Meeting report on EIN2025

The 4th International Congress on Euglenoids (EIN2025) was held in Osaka, Japan, on June 30 and July 1, 2025, in conjunction with the 40th meeting of the Japan Euglena Research Association (JERA). A total of 139 participants joined the meeting, including 102 on-site attendees and 37 online participants.

The program featured keynote lectures, oral presentations, and posters covering a wide range of topics in euglenoid biology, from molecular mechanisms to ecological roles. We thank all presenters and participants for making the meeting a success and for contributing to an engaging and collaborative atmosphere.

As part of the meeting, student presentation awards were given as follows:

  • EIN Award for Outstanding Oral Presentations
Anežka Konupková (Charles University, Czech Republic)
    Haruka Higuchi (Meiji University, Japan)
  • JERA Award for Outstanding Poster Presentations
Kanon Fukui (Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan)
    Ryo Oda (Kindai University, Japan)

In addition, the Most Impactful Euglenoid Paper 2023–2025 was selected based on voting by principal investigators who attended the meeting, from among the papers nominated by EIN members.
Two papers received equal numbers of votes and were jointly recognized as this year’s awardees:
